Conflict: Global Terror
Pivotal Game’s now long running series of “Conflict” is back with the fourth entry, Conflict: Global Terror. Take the fight against terrorists global from South Korea to the mountains of Kashmir. Find out what we thought of it in our full review.

I have nothing negative at all to say about the actual combat part of the game. I like each of the weapons, the way they feel when they shoot, their effectiveness and of course how realistic they are. The enemies interact pretty well and sometimes are smarter than you can predict so take caution to that factor. I also liked how interactive the levels and just about everything is. There is a lot of stuff to blow up, break, collect, climb on and just have fun with.

Graphics
This was by far the most impressive aspect of the game to me. I was not nearly expecting the degree of detail put into each level as this game does. As I just mentioned, a lot of the levels have ways to interact with levers, boxes, doors, radios and what not where as you can destroy them or whatever needs to be done. The fact that the amount of detail put into the textures is VERY impressive is amazing because of how large the levels are but can still contain a massive amount of detail and interactivity. There are cinematics in the title sequence and sometimes in-between missions which are fairly impressive and can be appreciated but the real ace here are the in game graphics and the physics! There seems to be a nice use of a rag-doll physics engine you notice when you lay waste to enemies on high elevations and there bodies fall to the ground and spin and mangle up after they hit stuff on their way down.

Sound
If there is anything particularly nice to comment on about the sound is the fact that you can throw in your own custom soundtracks and completely get rid of the abomination this game calls a soundtrack. I don’t even want to comment anymore on the soundtrack because it’s so bad, so I won’t. There are voice-overs to each individual character which are done pretty nicely but this game holds one pretty serious flaw sometimes, the sounds don’t work. Every now and then someone will say something and you either won’t hear it or its just way too soft to be interpreted. This is especially noted in the cinematics where you can see what is happening just fine, but you have no clue what is actually going on or being said.

Overall I was pleasantly surprised with Conflict: Global Terror because probably like many of you, I was expecting just a lame-o tactical shooter that couldn’t stand on its own two feet and stand out amongst the crowd. Now it doesn’t necessarily do any of that too well in the end but all in all Conflict: Global Terror is a well balanced 3rd person action game that is surprising in length, multiplayer, interactivity, gameplay and graphics. Get your own soundtrack because the one included isn’t worth your time and you’ll be good to go. Simply put, this is a must buy for serious fans of these types of games, but for anyone else, rent it first.
