Rogue has many different movements and abilities to help scamper across levels and take advantage of the enemy in many different situations. You have the ability to wall-press which has your character slam up against a wall or a barrier and use it as protection. From this position you can strafe left or right, lean around corners, and shoot around corners. The thing I absolutely loved about this was the ability to shoot blindly over the barrier which either randomly damages your enemies or sends them into hiding as well. This is actually a critical aspect of the gameplay in Gears of War because when we played the deathmatch at E3 I ended up using this technique quite a lot to win. There is your standard weapon array for the basic shooter but something unique for this one is that your standard rife is actually a 4-in-1 gun. It can shoot like a regular rifle with zoom capabilities to an extent, but it can also get add-ons from your squad mates that enhance it and your abilities depending on how you use it.
There really isn’t anything special that I could pick out about the graphics and say look amazing but, from what I’m hearing the Xbox and the PC version of this game definitely look the best. As far as the game looking like the comic, it looks pretty darn good for the sake of making a 3D world out of a 2D, black & white world. Particle effects and explosions look pretty nice as well but with so much constantly going on it’s pretty hard to pay attention just to the environments and what not because they just don’t severely stand out. It’s a lot like the story; you know it’s there and it’s probably pretty good but the gameplay is just too good to not be paying complete attention to.

In the end, Rogue Trooper is just a really fun game to play…which is why I really have to recommend this one. The story, the graphics, and the audio are all there and really not that bad but, they just can’t stand up to the very impressive gameplay. It’s really the only part of this game that will have you playing it again and again till you beat it…which actually doesn’t take that long. Fortunately though there is multiplayer through Xbox Live and a 4 player brawl mode on a single console to help extend the longevity of the game.
