Virtua Fighter 5 Review
Once on the Playstation, now on the Xbox 360. Does the added Xbox Live support makes the difference? Find out the verdict on XE Review of Virtua Fighter 5.

Quest Mode compliments Virtua Fighter 5 single player experience. In Quest Mode you battle against different opponents fitting your skill level. Invited to tournaments, earn items, money, and able to customize your character appearance. This part alone adds to the length of the game instead of bashing it out for one match. Though, you can get tired of easy AI opponents and go to arcade for harder matches.

The controls for Virtua Fighter at first seem cumbersome but it is actually an added relief. Instead of the usual High [Action], Low [Action], it is smashed together in one button. It’s a bit confusing but works out generally well since there are so many combos and buttons to remember. It seems befitting towards a joystick controller then a 360 console controller but the 360 controller does the job. If you aren’t happy the way the controls are setup, then you can always change it in the menu.

Graphically, Virtua Fighter 5 is a knock out. The characters are well detail, animation is smooth, and the environments are beautifully well done. You just wish the characters would shut the hell up so you won’t be taken out of how nicely design this game is. There is nothing that can’t be said about how great this game looks visually. The English voiceovers for each character ruins the experience with there little sayings before and after a match. You can also notice at times how the character mouths doesn’t match with there lips moving.

Virtua Fighter 5 is a good fighting game with little nuisances. It is definitely not for beginners and the learning curve is frustrating. If you can stick with it then the game is overall enjoyable. The multiplayer that wasn’t added to the PlayStation 3 version just adds value to it. If you’re new to this series then I suggest trying the demo or renting it beforehand. For those who are fans of the genre then this is a must buy.
