Square is Platform Neutral
Yoichi Wada speaks out about FFXIII's Xbox 360 move.

Yoichi Wada, president of Square Enix, has recently said that his company remains neutral to both publishers and console manufactures, in comments that came in light of the recent news of Final Fantasy XIII's appearance on Xbox 360.

News of the long-running series' appearance on Microsoft's console was perhaps the biggest shock of the recent E3, and speaking to gamesindustry.biz Wada said, "We always consider the territory and hardware for titles, and I just want to make sure that we're neutral about dealing with companies."

The 360 has traditionally underperformed in Square Enix's home territory – where Final Fantasy XIII will remain a PlayStation 3 exclusive – but the company has kept a watching brief on other regions.

"In North America Microsoft is doing very well with its hardware, and for that reason it's a very important partner for us," said Wada, continuing, ""We're now in the age of the multi-platform, but depending on age and territory, users have different tastes. Therefore it's very difficult to just deal with one company or one hardware platform - in order to offer our product to the vast majority of gamers we need to deal with multiple companies and platforms."
