Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway Review
Announced way back on Apr. 12th, 2006, Brothers in Arms Hell’s Highway has faced many obstacles which has since delayed its release. But finally, the folks at Gearbox Software and Ubisoft have released the long awaited game to take us back to WW2.

Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway brings the critically acclaimed squad-based WWII shooter into the next generation of gaming with redone graphics, surreal sound, new cutting-edge gameplay features, and a completely redesigned online component. Delivering on the franchise's compelling story, unrivaled authenticity and intense squad-based action, Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway drops players into Operation Market Garden, the largest paratrooper operation in World War II. But what Gearbox tried to make next-gen, they faltered at miserably.

Now I think it’s safe to say that we’ve all had our good enough share back in the day with what seemed to be a barrage of never ending WW2 shooters in the early 2000s. With the introduction of Modern Warfare in Call of Duty 4, times had seemed to be changing to different settings. But over at Gearbox, they think otherwise. Same goes with Treyarch with their upcoming WW2 shooter, Call of Duty World at War. What can we say; gamers love thier World War 2 games!

The story of Hell's Highway revolves around Operation Market Garden, a plan designed by Field Marshal Montgomery to end the war before Christmas of 1944 by capturing a highway through Holland and punching through enemy lines into the heart of Germany. As Sgt. Baker, the player is the squad leader of a Recon unit of the 101st Airborne. If you’ve played previous Brothers in Arms games, you should be very familiar with Baker, who was always an introspective character in the previous games. Baker survived D-Day but many of his squad did not which is what most of the story reflects on for Baker’s character who his stuck with his own abstruse problems. These emotions are very well done and shown on how war can affect one’s mind and helps the player become more emotionally attached to the characters.

Players cover everything from the first few hours of Operation Market Garden through the ninth and final day of the mission when the Allies were forced to retreat. It was the last great Nazi victory and was hell for Sgt. Baker and his squad. The cinematics all help explain the story in a gripping experience. The voice acting is also very well done too, which helps better tell each character’s personality and give off a more realistic and average human feeling.
