Diner Dash Review

Diner Dash, one of the most amazing casual games. You know it, you love it, and now you can play it on Xbox LIVE Arcade.

For those who have never had the chance to experience the magnificence in what is Diner Dash, the general goal with the game is to serve customers and open up new restaurants. What I always loved about the series is that it’s so simple yet at the same time so challenging. You play as Flo, a young female who newly opened up a restuarunt and is hungry for business. You are the waitress, the owner, the attendant and even the dish washer. It’s your job to do all of these tasks. Luckily, you don’t cook. But like I said, it’s really a lot more simple than it sounds.
When you start a new level, you have one setting that is fairly similar 99% of the game just with a different theme. You start each level off with a few tables and you’re set to go. Groups of customers come in, you seat them, take their orders to the kitchen, deliver the meals, drop off their checks and finally clear off the table to make it available for the next customer. Simple right? If you take too long to do any of this and your customers will get frustrated which is apparent by a number of hearts that hover of the customers. Eventually they just leave the restaurant if all the hearts go away.
The formula is again, really simple and straight forward. After you progress a few levels the customers come in a lot faster and the difficulty to handle all your customers appropriately gets amped up. Luckily, you can obtain a few additions like extra tables, speedy shoes, faster ovens etc. to help you along the way. These are earned by making money from the customers after they leave.
Diner Dash has three main game modes. You have the single-player Career, Endless Shift and Xbox LIVE play. Over Xbox LIVE you can have head-to-head matches with tip wars for whoever collects the most money and more. You can also play the game cooperatively with another player online and even offline. The game supports 1-8 players. Online it runs pretty smooth too.
Visually, Diner Dash looks sweet. It would have been nice to see your Xbox Avatars take place of Flo is wanted but it’s still nonetheless pretty fine. The visuals are nice and clean and really all you can ask for in a game like Diner Dash.

Though the game is repetitive, it is addictive and challenging. It is a game that is easy to put down and which you will not be frustrated when called away to attend to someone in the middle of a level as you can also come back to replay it again without feeling a sense of loss. Overall, it’s a nice game suitable for all ages. Anyone will be able to easily pick up a controller and play.
