According to Keita Toi, webmaster of the now defunct Japanese Xbox news site Xbox NEXT, “Connect! On” Vol. 35 a publication by Famitsu's publisher Enterbrain Inc., will be revealing more information about Final Fantasy XIV coming to the Xbox 360. The current issue, Vol. 34, goes slightly in depth in Final Fantasy XIV, and promises big announcements for Final Fantasy XIV at Tokyo Game Show. Vol. 35 will be release at the end of September.
The news shouldn’t come as a surprise as Square-Enix had previously released their other MMORPG, Final Fantasy XI for the system, and FFXIII is still coming, at least everywhere but Japan. Square-Enix has expressed their desire to get the game on Xbox 360 citing technical problems arising with Microsoft and Xbox Live being the reason they have not announced it yet. The game had been in development for Xbox 360 for quite some time, a picture taken from Square announcing their support of Xbox 360 at Microsoft’s E3 05 press conference below, shows the engine for the game in motion all the way back in 2005.
Currently Final Fantasy XIV is confirmed and scheduled for a simultaneous release on PC and PlayStation 3 sometime in 2010. Keita also mentioned that there are no new developments on if Final Fantasy XIII would see a Japan release in the magazine. We will have more on this next month at Tokyo Game Show.
