Forza Motorsport 2
|
|
The newest title for the Xbox 360, Forza Motorsport 2 is here, and started it engines. Forza Motorsport 2 hits 6 gear, and turned the tables on simulation racing.

Forza Motorsport 2 continues the racing simulation debuted on the original Xbox as an answer to Sony’s Gran Turismo. It goes so far as to being the closest thing you will ever get to a racing-rpg. The new parts you buy is your car's armor, the car's reputation is your level, and the car's design is your appearance. Of course there is so much more to Forza Motorsport 2, but I’m just trying to compare similarities.
Forza Motorsport 2 is bringing features that no other game has offered before in such a wide degree of variety. You can tune countless parts of your car assuming you buy the upgradeable parts to adjust. By buying those upgradeable parts consisting of springs, anti-lock brakes, and more, you can get more performance out of your car than you originally expected. Much of the game’s fun is in how customizable the cars are, but there is a little something for everybody. If you aren’t into the tuning scene or just want to get down and dirty with some of the game’s faster cars you can always go in arcade mode and race around in your favorite Ferrari, Lamborghini or Mazerati cars from the get go.
Turn 10 tries to appeal to the casual fan, while in heart is for the hardcore racer. While appealing to the casual fan, it does a great job of enticing you into investing time into the games more particular intricacies. Having a multitude of options of difficultly to add or not have to decrease or boost your total points seems to convince you to the hardcore side. Whether you want to, or not, you'll be tempted to try out all the extra features that Forza Motorsport 2 offers.
XE Staff “try” to customize cars as well!
Before you even think about racing, you must choose a side to align yourself with; North America, Europe, and Asian built cars. Choosing one side limits you from picking other cars until you complete most of the tracks. In total there are 380 cars to choose from and each sporting different classes. Each class represents your car eligibility to race with, and the type of car you have. Upgrading your car can advance you to the next stage, (D, C, B, A, S, U, R1-4) but upgrading to the next class isn't always the best option. Each class from D to S are separated from each other, so you can have a chance racing with other cars in your class. Tuning is a major factor to help you get the most out of that class without going beyond your class limit indicated by the Performance Index. Also, just reaching the max of your performance index doesn't mean your car is the best amongst your competitors. Obviously the better skilled drive and the best-tuned car wins.
As much as tuning your car helps, it's a matter on how you drive that depends on how you do overall. Each car has a different feel to how it drives and changes over the course of tuning. You can enjoy the car's feel at the moment you bought it but taking off 800 pounds of weight will change it feel completely. If you haven't figure out just by playing, this game is meant for the Xbox 360 Racing wheel. Even though each car feels different, you can tell by the way you handle the left joystick that it gives you different motion directed towards your steering wheel. The controls on the actual 360 controller are average at best but doesn't compare to having a racing wheel.
