Good: Tons of new weapons, more campaigns and chapters, improved graphics.
Bad: Same Left 4 Dead anyway you look at it with not enough change. Was L4D1 just a $60 beta test?

Left 4 Dead 2 Review

More zombies, more weapons, more modes, same Left 4 Dead.

It's been exactly one year since the release of the original Left 4 Dead, Valve's zombie shooter. And a year later comes Left 4 Dead 2, the sequel. The flaws that were present in Left 4 Dead were fixed in L4D2, but also introduced some new flaws that just want to make you trade the game back if you are playing single-player.
The original Left 4 Dead was a highly acclaimed videogame in console gaming and in general as it successfully combined survival horror and first-person shooters – and one heck of a combination it turned out to be. Valve also managed to really nail the great feel of cooperative teamwork whether online or offline. I gave great praise to the first Left 4 Dead a year ago, and yet, desired a lot more than what was presented.
Left 4 Dead 2 is almost just like its predecessor, a first-person shooter against the backdrop of a global zombie pandemic. Player follows four new survivors (although again, none of them really matter) across several campaigns with an almost endless supply of ammo, almost as many zombies including special mutated ones, and no shooter's shoulder to worry about. It’s the same style fans of the first L4D will come to recognize. About 4-5 chapters per campaign with each finale chapter being the final get away part. Towards the end of the campaigns the survivors must defend a position to await rescue whilst going up against seemingly impossible odds. One level even has you filling up a gas tank in a vehicle to drive away in instead of waiting for rescue.
Like the original, Left 4 Dead 2 focuses on teamwork-survival rather than the typical one-man-army. It is virtually impossible for one gamer to survive the campaigns without assistance from either ally AI or from another player. Weapons are hyper-accurate similar to doom as you simply have to point the weapon in the general direction of your target in order to hit them, thus making the Left 4 Dead franchise the ultimate zombie shooter.
The new special infected are a nice addition to the mix. You got the new Jockeys that jump on you and ride you around, Chargers that pin you against walls or the ground and beat you to a bloody pulp, and Spitters that spray acid and explode into nasty bubbling pools of acid force you to adapt your strategies more quickly. Unfortunately, that’s all. The Spitter feels like another Boomer, Jockey is like another Hunter, and Chargers are miniature Tanks. A bit more work surely could have been put into creating more unique infected. Tanks and Witches are still tough, and the Smokers, Boomers, and Hunters are still around to make life a living hell as well. Witches this time around actually walk and roam around now instead of sitting in one spot like the last game. The common infected are more diverse and interesting. My favorite would have to be the clowns you meet in Dark Carnival, who make a cool sound when you punch them in the nose.
The New guns in this game add quite a lot; two Snipers, three Shotguns, six or so machine guns and even laser sights now to help your accuracy. They also added in explosive and incendiary ammo. Then we have the melee weapons which consist of Axes, Swords, Frying Pans, Baseball Bats and more. There are a lot of melee weapons. They also added two health objects as well. The adrenaline shot which heals less than the pills but it makes you move and pick up fallen allies faster and the Defibrillator which brings an ally back from death, CLEAR.
