EA today released the all new gameplay trailer of the next installment in the Need for Speed series, SHIFT, and my does it look good! NFS seems to be trying to its return to sit upon the higher ranks of the notorious racing sims like Gran Turismo.
Need for Speed: Shift is one of the next installments in the long-running racing video game franchise, Need for Speed, published by Electronic Arts. It was announced in January as part of a three-game announcement. Shift is under development by Slightly Mad Studios—who helped develop GT Legends and GTR 2 together with SimBin Studios—with help of Michael Mann (EA Black Box) and Patrick Söderlund (senior VP of EA Games and head of DICE). In the new franchising model for the series adopted by EA, Shift takes its place aiming at hardcore gamers and focusing on simulation racing rather than the arcade racing of previous titles in the series.
With the recent decline of the NFS series, expectations for SHIFT when it was announced weren’t shooting out of this world. We gave the last iteration, Undercover, a 6.9 in our Review. The past games have been suffering from terrible Hollywood underground tuner scripts with mediocre racing, where it counts. Comparing NFS to Forza, Project Gotham, or Gran Turismo, would be a laughable situation each time. With SHIFT, all that is gone and the racing is being focused on and today the new gameplay trailer was released showing some mighty fine graphics.
Hip Hop Gamer was the first to report on the competition this game brings toward Gran Turismo….and after this amazing gameplay trailer released today, we have to concur! This is of course, only graphically speaking per se as of right now and its more on the level of GRID maybe. But the gameplay looks be shaping up nicely.
