Editor’s Note:Due to language barrier, some of the item or character names may be different in the English version
Phantagram is a company from South Korea known for developing some exciting action hack-and-slash titles for the first Xbox, including the ‘Kingdom Under Fire’ series. If you are a gamer in the know however, you probably know of this title more, as it is being produced by Q Entertainment, headed by Tetsuya Mizuguchi, producer of titles such as “Space Channel 5 and “Rez”. However, it is clear that Phantagram had much more to do with this title. ‘N3’ puts you in the world of Elves in a fantasy world not much unlike the ‘Kingdom Under Fire’ series.
You cut your way through hordes of enemies that attack you from far and wide, and you can also use special attacks that allow you to send your enemies packing with special magic powers. You fight in many different environments including grassy knolls, dry valleys, jungles, snowfields, and each is carefully detailed, allowing for a rush of visual detail.
The impression I get from the game is, you feel as if though you are a ninja because you can cut into a lot of enemies. The action of the characters is very smooth, and the techniques of each character are pleasantly shown. Each character as mentioned before has a special power, a ‘killer shot’ that would become a new technique in their arsenal. As you fight more, you level up these abilities, and you raise your level much like in a RPG. You collect certain items as well, and you become more powerful, these items make more sense to the Japanese culture though, so they may be something different in the English version of the title. There is a power called Orbspark for example, a super-killer shot that makes it worth going through the game alone. This is a killer shot that can take out
If you want to enjoy the game to its fullest, then play it with every single character. It becomes one big story that fits together when you play as each character, and you understand the story much better when playing as much. When it is completed with all of them, and all the maps are cleared, you can encounter the true enemy, and see the true ending. There are a few drawbacks to the game, such as the fact that it doesn’t take to long to beat it in the first place, I was able to complete the game in less than a week, and the formula of the game, while a bit more expanded than past Phantagram games, still feels very similar.

At the end of the game, the final character that is unlocked, has a terrible power, and a strength that can only be matched by the last enemy, and that is why it is worth playing to the last minute. It is worth the time, and I hope they put out a sequel to such a fantastic title, and hopefully Americans will pick up on the title as well.
