Good: Online chat, camera, and play.

UNO
Microsoft brings Mattel's classic card game to the online gaming world via the Xbox Live Arcade Marketplace. Uno is among the first of products designed to be used with Microsoft's newest addition to it's line of accessories.

Uno for XBLA features single player, online multi-player, and the newest trick up Microsoft's sleeve- a high resolution USB camera designed to allow for online play and even web conferencing.

As far as card games go, Uno is a pretty solid purchase. If you've never played before it's a breeze to pick up and the interface is simple.

In single player mode, the game really pretty enjoyable. The only real drawback I noticed is that the game is either very dirty to you or very good to you. Either you will be dealt a few "Draw Two" or "Wild Card Draw Four" cards and you are almost guaranteed a win, or the CPU player next to you will be dealt them and play them all against you.

Your cards are organized by color and number at the bottom of the screen for you. Your name and avatar appear just to the side of your cards. You can see the names, avatars, and the backs of the cards of your three opponents. In single player mode, these opponents are color-coded and have generic avatars.

The layout and gameplay for multi-player games is similar, but the names and avatars are of other human players. To keep the game moving, there is a timer to force players away from their controller to play.

So what about the new camera? Any players using the web-cam have a thumbnail-sized video where their avatar would otherwise appear. This, in addition to voice chat headsets, allows players to see and hear their opponents.

The sound doesn't exactly make or break the game. The in-game music is a jazzy mix that actually sounds pretty good. If that's not your thing you can always hit the Xbox Guide button and play your own tracks you have on your hard drive. The cards make shuffling sounds when they move, and high-pitched sing-songy voice lets everyone know when anyone calls "Uno."

This is decent arcade game. It's certainly worth the 400 points ($5), especially with it's online camera feature. Most of the achievements you won't even have to try for. You just play the game for a while and you'll get a majority of them, but you'll have to do some work to get the last few. For now, the only online downloadable content available is a "35th Anniversary Deck." When you play with this deck, the game adds a rule regarding 3's and 5's being played on top of eachother.

If you purchase Xbox Live Arcade games, you're probably going to want this one. It helps to be interested in card games, but either way the high-resolution web-cam feature might grab your attention.
